Create a Snapchat Account

Before you can start advertising on Snapchat, you’ll need to create a Snapchat account. Having a Snapchat account allows you to log in to Ads Manager.

Follow the steps below to create a Snapchat account. As you follow these steps, you’ll also be creating a Business account and Public Profile at the same time.

Note: If you already have a Snapchat account, you can skip to "Create a Business Account."

Next, create a username and add your website.

  • Don’t worry if you’re unable to find a username you want. You can change this later on and you can change your public display name — which is more important!

  • Recommended tip! Choose to import brand assets directly from your website. This will save you time with Profile Set Up and Ad Creation.

Optional: 

Once you create your account, you can complete your Public Profile by adding a profile photo and a bio. Once done, click Confirm.

Note: Your Public Profile allows your business to be discovered publicly. For more information, visit the “Create a Public Profile” section. If you complete your Public Profile in this section, you won’t need to complete it again in the “Create a Public Profile” section.

Then, confirm your country and currency, and add a phone number. For non-USA businesses only, don’t forget to add your VAT/Tax ID, if applicable. Click Next. You’ve now created an account!

How can I change my username?

To change your username, follow these steps.

Note: You can only change your username once per year and it can only be changed via the Snap app.

The username I want is taken, what should I do?

Your username is a unique identifier primarily used for logging in to your account, so don’t worry if the username you want is taken, simply choose another username or try another variation that works for you.

Your public display name, however, is how you show up publicly. If you’d like to change your public display name, follow these steps:

  1. On desktop:

    1. Go to your Public Profile page.

    2. Click Edit Profile.

    3. You’ll be able to view your Display Name and modify it if needed. Don’t forget to click Update Profile if you make any changes.

  2. On mobile:

    1. Tap ⚙️ in My Profile to open Settings.

    2. Tap Name under the 'My Account' section.

    3. Enter your Display Name and tap Save.

Do I need to login with a personal or business account?

It depends. If you want to create a new business account from scratch, we recommend creating a new Snapchat account with your business email address. If you’d like to turn your personal account into a business account, log in to your personal account then follow the steps above to create a business account.

Should I connect my Business Manager with my own Snapchat personal account, or do I need a new Snapchat account?

It depends. If your personal account is the account you’re using for your brand or business, you can turn your personal account into a business account.

If you don’t want to create your own business account, you can share it with external accounts by granting member roles to your Public Profile. You can do so by following these steps.
