Why Wellness Brands Should Put Snapchat in the Media Mix

A practical framework for U.S. wellness and nutrition advertisers to explore Snapchat’s role in discovery, reach, and performance, without treating one channel or one benchmark as a universal answer.

Our recommendation: Give Snapchat a defined, measurable role alongside Meta, Google and TikTok. Test Snap for incremental reach, wellness discovery and conversion; expand only when customer quality and margins hold.

This framework combines Snap audience data, Snap-commissioned studies, third-party benchmarks and one advertiser case study. Budget allocations are recommendations—not market averages or guaranteed results.

35%–40% Proposed Snapchat share in the full monthly media-mix scenario below. This is a Snap-developed recommendation—not an observed industry average. M

A Snapchat-led budget scenario

Use this as a starting scenario, not a universal prescription. It assumes a U.S. ecommerce advertiser spending $100,000–$500,000 monthly, with eligible products, conversion-ready landing pages and capacity to test creativity. Adjust for margins, age, distribution, seasonality and measurement quality.

How to read the table: Shares are of total monthly media spend. The first-test recommendation below uses paid-social spend as its denominator; these percentages are not interchangeable.

Why Snapchat belongs in the wellness mix

Snapchat can extend reach in a distinct social environment.

Snap can add a distinct discovery environment. Its public advertising page says ads can reach 90% of U.S. 13–34-year-olds, based on Q4 2024 internal data. This includes minors; use age controls and target only eligible adults. 2

971 million Snap reported 971 million global monthly active users in Q2 2026. This is global platform context, not a forecast of U.S. campaign reach. 1

Wellness audiences on Snapchat report interest and action

A 2026 Ipsos study commissioned by Snap surveyed 1,500 U.S. daily social-media users ages 18–45 interested in health and wellness. Findings are self-reported and describe respondents, not guaranteed campaign outcomes.

1.2× more likely: Daily Snapchatters were more likely than non-Snapchatters to have purchased health and wellness products over the past 6 to 12 months. 3

59% of Snapchatters surveyed said health content on Snapchat had influenced real-world behavior. 3

49% of respondents said health-related social content made them more aware of specific treatments and products; this finding is about social content overall, not Snapchat alone. 3

Sponsored Snaps improved brand outcomes in a cross-platform test

In a 2026 eye square study commissioned by Snap, one Facebook video exposure was replaced with a Sponsored Snap exposure. The study reported +11 percentage points in unaided ad recall, +14 in aided recall and +16 in purchase intent. Study results are not a campaign forecast. 4 Snapchat complements other channels—it does not need to replace them

Diversify with a clear role for Snapchat

Triple Whale reports that participating brands allocated 66.88% of their total ad budget to Meta from Aug. 1, 2025 through July 31, 2026. This describes its tracked ecommerce sample, not the whole market. 5

Give each platform a distinct job: use Snapchat to test incremental reach among eligible adults, creator-led video, Sponsored Snaps and AR; Meta for established conversion and retargeting; Google for active intent; and TikTok for creative testing when audience and product fit.

Start with a controlled Snapchat test

One proposed first step is to shift 25%–35% of existing paid-social spend to Snapchat while holding total spend flat. This is a share of the paid-social budget. The table’s 35%–40% is a separate full-media scenario based on total monthly spend. Scale only if reach, customer quality and margins hold.

Build a Snapchat plan that earns more budget

Give each Snapchat dollar a job

Within the Snapchat allocation—not total media spend—use this proposed split:

60% conversion and prospecting through Snap Ads, Story Ads and Collection Ads.

  • 15% Sponsored Snaps with direct, conversational creative and a clear offer.

  • 15% creator and UGC-style tests built around routines, product use and credible education.

  • 10% AR Lens and format experiments when interaction helps explain or demonstrate the product.

Make creative for Snapchat’s camera and conversation

Start with a 9:16 video showing the product in use within the opening seconds. Use a human voice, visible proof and a clear next step. Create for Snapchat rather than simply adapting another platform’s asset; test variations in opening, creator, proof point and offer.

Measure Snapchat on incremental business value

Use platform-reported return for optimization but make budget decisions with a shared business view: new-customer CPA, contribution margin, cohort revenue and reach overlap. Consider holdouts or geo tests when data volume supports them and keep attribution windows consistent.

Protect sensitive data and substantiate wellness claims

Review measurement with Legal and Privacy. Do not send sensitive health information through pixels or advertising tools. Substantiate product claims, follow platform policies and apply age restrictions as required.

Decide whether Snapchat should scale

Judge Snapchat on incremental value, not last-click ROAS alone.

  • Did it add eligible reach?

  • Did new-customer CPA and contribution margin hold?

  • Did Snap-specific creative or formats add useful learning?

Decision rule: Scale when Snapchat adds reach or learning while meeting customer-quality and margin thresholds. Hold if evidence is inconclusive; fix measurement, creative or landing-page issues before drawing a conclusion.

One advertiser example—not a forecast

Izil Beauty: Turning better signals into stronger Snapchat performance

For Izil Beauty, a UAE-based brand known for natural and ethically sourced Moroccan beauty products, Snapchat performance began to soften as campaign signals weakened. The brand responded by implementing Snapchat’s Conversions API (CAPI), creating a more dependable connection between its marketing data and Snapchat’s optimization systems.

The goal was straightforward: improve signal accuracy, strengthen ad delivery and reach Gen Z and millennial shoppers across the Middle East more effectively. CAPI uses a server-to-server connection across web, app and offline channels, including stores and CRM systems, while supporting privacy-conscious measurement.

According to Snap Ads Manager, Izil Beauty reported a 38% lower cost per purchase, a 56% higher return on ad spend and a 261% increase in purchases during the Jul. 23, 2022–Jan. 24, 2023 measurement period. 6

These are one advertiser’s reported results—not a U.S. benchmark or a guarantee of similar performance.

FAQs

How long does it take to test Snapchat?

Align the test to the purchase cycle and the conversion volume needed for a stable decision. Several weeks is often more useful than a short burst; avoid frequent resets that obscure platform learning.

How should a wellness brand test Snapchat without increasing total spend?

Start by shifting 25%–35% of existing paid-social spend to Snapchat while holding total spend flat. Measure incremental reach, new-customer CPA, contribution margin, cohort revenue and reach overlap. Scale only when customer quality and margins hold.

What share of the media budget should go to Snapchat?

There is no universal allocation. For a U.S. ecommerce advertiser spending $100,000–$500,000 per month, this framework proposes a 35%–40% Snapchat share of total monthly media spend as a planning scenario, not an industry average. A first test can instead use 25%–35% of existing paid-social spend; that is a different denominator.

Does Snapchat replace Meta, Google or TikTok?

Not necessarily. This framework treats Snapchat as a complementary channel for testing incremental reach, creator-led video, Sponsored Snaps and AR. Keep each platform’s role tied to audience fit, campaign objective and measured business value.
