We surveyed Snapchatters to find out how their friendships have changed over the past year, how they like to communicate with their pals, and how they’re using the app to stay connected.
How they like to connect and communicate
When Snapchatters take to the app with their friends, they’re all about sharing life updates and letting their silliness shine; nearly 3 in 4 Snapchatters talk to their friends about their day-to-day lives using the app.1 77% of Snapchatters are using more Snapchat features than they were a year ago,2 and nearly half agree that Bitmojis make communicating more fun.3
How Snapchatters are thinking about their friendships
Snapchatters are eager to spend some quality time with their buds again, and 62% say they’re interacting the same amount or more with their friends as they were a year ago.4 As they catch up with their crew, Snapchatters are also strengthening the relationships in their lives and forming new connections. 31% report their friendships have grown stronger, and 28% have built new friendships over the past year.5
Snapchatters have mixed feelings about transitioning back to the pre-pandemic social scene. For many, the thought of meeting new people makes them feel happy (37%) or excited (31%), while 24% are a bit more anxious.6 Almost half of Snapchatters say they used the app during the pandemic to share photos and videos with friends as a way to feel connected, making the idea of returning to in-person hangouts feel easier.7
