The new iPhone 11 release had Snapchatters around the world considering a swap out of their old devices for the latest version that features an Ultra Wide camera and pet-focused portrait mode. Book smarts (and street smarts) also got tons of attention as India celebrated Teachers Day, and UK Snapchatters got hyped for the Drizzy-assisted revival of crime TV series “Top Boy.” The first Friday the 13th of the year, which ironically took place exactly 13 weeks before the December Friday the 13th, had Canadian Snapchatters dodging sidewalk cracks, while Snapchatters in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates commemorated the 89th Saudi National Day. Snapchatters had all the feels for J-Lo & Co. in Hustlers, but something about the cooler weather and longer nights had them craving mystery and horror, too. They tuned into season two of Spanish-language drama “Elite,” shuddered at the latest installment of “American Horror Story,” and lined up for spooky thrills in IT Chapter Two and K-12. For interactive entertainment, it was all about the competition, with Mario Kart Tour and FIFA 20 keeping Snapchatters’ thumbs in overdrive.

September kicked off a new school year for many Snapchatters. Teens were solidifying their primping plans before the big “HoCo” dance, asking their friends to “GRWM” or “Get Ready With Me.” A new generation of “it” girls rose to prominence for their effortless styling of scrunchies and quirky language habits, expressing their feelings with the occasional “Sksksk.” If that sounds oddly unsettling, it might be due to the start of spooky season, that time of year before Halloween when creepy vibes are at an all time high and black cat sightings feel just a bit more ominous.
