Snap Chatter — June 2019: Eid al-Fitr, Father’s Day, Pride, and Tour de Suisse

Between FIFA Women’s World Cup, Father’s Day, Pride, the Tour de Suisse, and the final moments of Ramadan, Snapchatters had lots to Snap in June.
Global: Trending Topics
Far and wide, Snapchatters celebrated dads on Father’s Day and the end of Ramadan with Eid al-Fitr, the “Festival of Breaking the Fast.” The Tour de Suisse came to an exciting close as well, teeing up next month’s Tour de France.
US: Trending Topics
US Snapchatters celebrated equality with Pride and Juneteenth this month. They spread the love on Father’s Day and National Best Friends Day, giving dads and BSFs (best sister friends) shoutouts. Regents exams marked the end of the school year and the kickoff of summer. Go Skateboarding Day and National Softball Day gave active Snapchatters a reason to go outside. Finally, Snapchatters served face on National Selfie Day — though we like to think every day is National Selfie Day.
US: Trending Entertainment
Major playoffs were front and center on Snapchatters’ minds in June during the NBA Finals. It was a great month to be a kid (or feel like one again) with much-anticipated animated sequels Toy Story 4 and The Secret Life of Pets 2. Speaking of sequels, Dark Phoenix gave X-Men fans a peek into Jean Gray’s backstory, and Child’s Play brought Chucky’s terrifying antics to a new generation. New and returning shows like “When They See Us” and “Black Mirror” had Snapchatters thinking about life’s big issues.
US: Trending Celebrities
In the sports world, superstars Anthony Davis and the Raptors’ Kyle Lowry dominated interest, while fans speculated about the uncertain future of the Denver Nuggets’ Bol Bol. Meanwhile, it’s Megan Thee Stallion’s “Hot Girl Summer,” and we’re just living in it. The 24-year-old rap star continues to rise, and Snapchatters showed her lots of love in June. Lil Nas X’s country-rap crossover anthem “Old Town Road” continues to rule the radio. On a somber note, fans mourned the loss of YouTube creator Desmond “Etika” Amofah.
US: Trending Catchphrase
Need some extra motivation? Look no further than the Toronto Raptors’ Kawhi Leonard. His signature catchphrase “Board man gets paid” originated during his days at San Diego State, and the meaning is simple: Sometimes it’s the dirty work, like getting rebounds for your team, that’s the difference between winning and losing. Being a “board man” might not be a glamorous job, but it pays off nicely in this game we call life.
France Spotlight: Trending Topics
This month, the spotlight is on trending topics in France. French Snapchatters were all about the finish line, with the Tour de Suisse cycling race in Switzerland and Baccalauréat. As hosts to the FIFA Women’s World Cup, they’re paying close attention to see which countries advance. And French Snapchatters around the country tried to stay cool during the record-breaking heat wave.

Snapchat can help your small, medium or large business grow.
