From the World Cup to the Drake “In My Feelings” dance challenge, here’s what stayed top of mind among Snapchatters around the world.
Global: Trending Topics
A wide array of topics trended in different countries this month. The World Cup finals, featuring France and Croatia, dominated conversations in France and Spain, while in the US, Canada, and Mexico, the Fourth of July rose to the top.
US: Trending Topics
This month, the Fourth of July and Drake came in as the top two trending topics in the US, and Shiggy’s dance challenge around Drake’s hit song “In My Feelings” followed closely behind. Additionally, 7/11’s “National Slurpee Day” proved to be a hit again this year.
US: Trending Entertainment
July was a big month in the world of entertainment. Of all the big movies and TV properties, The First Purge, Shark Week, and Ant-Man and the Wasp took the top three trending spots. The latest season of Orange Is The New Black, which premiered on July 27, also made a huge splash on Snapchat, rounding out the top four.
US: Trending Emojis
Similar to June, country flags dominated trending emojis. Unsurprisingly, the Fourth of July brought the US flag, sparklers, and fireworks to the top of the trending list. Finally, zodiac signs may be back in vogue, as the Leo sign made the trending emoji list for this month.
US: Trending Celebrities
Drake frequently ends up on our trending list, but this month he made it to the top. He was closely followed by Demarcus Cousins, who recently signed onto the Golden State Warriors. Twenty One Pilots, Ariana Grande, and Lil Duval rounded out the top five.
